Polskie LNG’s support for community
The design works on the recreation area situated in Warszów near the Municipal House of Culture and the kindergarten are to be soon completed. The project was commissioned by Świnoujście local government authorities. The fenced area of 340 square meters will accommodate children's playground, an outdoor canopy stage with sound system and auditorium.
The playground will comprise various playing facilities, including several meters’ long mock-up ship and rope-climbing devices. These will be completed by a canopy stage with auditorium accommodating a few dozen spectators, designed for outdoor events and outfitted with sound installation. The area will be fenced (with two gates – to the kindergarten and to the Municipal House of Culture), well illuminated and constantly monitored.
Moreover, the designed recreation area comprises a special educational section devoted to the history of Warszów district in Świnoujście, displayed on information boards. In this part of the area visitors will also find information on the LNG Terminal – one of the key Polish energy investments of strategic importance for the economy and national security. The LNG Unloading Terminal is being erected in Warszów district and it will start operating in mid-2014. The Project Sponsor – Polskie LNG company is committed to maintaining good relations with the local community. Rafał Wardziński, CEO of Polskie LNG, said, ‘The recreation area project is extremely important for our neighbours. We know that such a place is much needed in this part of the city. That is why we decided to sponsor its construction.’
The design works on the recreation area are to be soon completed. The next step will involve a tender to appoint the contractor to carry out the works on the site. The recreation area is expected to be open yet this autumn.
Recently Polskie LNG supported John Garduła Municipal Hospital in Świnoujście. The funds donated by the Project Sponsor and the Consortium constructing the Terminal were invested in laparoscopy equipment along with a package of medical disposables. Furthermore, Świnoujście Fire & Rescue Services received equipment for evacuation from height, composite bottles, and DZS3600 remote control device, improving firefighters’ daily operations and directly enhancing Świnoujście citizens’ safety.
The main objective of the cooperation between the EPC Contractor and Polskie LNG under "Civic Social Initiative" project is to support the development of Świnoujście, in particular Warszów district, as a corporate social responsibility activity embedded in the said Companies’ business strategy.
