The first Social Report in the history of Polskie LNG containing non-financial data and company’s actions and commitments to Świnoujście residents and environment was awarded by journalists at the 9th edition of “Social Reports 2015” contest organized by the Forum of Responsible Business Association, Deloitte and SGS. The contest results were announced on December 7th , at the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
The „Social Reports” competition has been organized since 2007. The recent, 9th edition was prepared by the Forum of Responsible Business Association, Deloitte and SGS. The objective of the competition is to promote the idea of non-financial reporting and present best practice in this respect. The prize along with special awards are granted by the competition panel, journalists and internet users. The competition panel assessing social reports comprises experts in business and social responsibility, representatives of business institutions, science, and public administration. The panel selects the best report based on three criteria: its completeness, reliability and communication.
Beside the main competition panel’s prize, a special award is granted by a panel of journalists, comprising the representatives of mass media; this year Brief, PAP Biznes, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, Forbes, Program III Polskiego Radia, Rzeczpospolita, MUZO.FM, Ekologia i Rynek, and Gazeta Wyborcza.
The journalists recognized and awarded the first edition of „Polskie LNG Social Report”.
The European Union directive on disclosing non-financial and diversity information adopted in 2014 sparked the revival of reporting non-financial data in Poland. Consequently, since 2017 some greatest companies will be obliged to demonstrate their activities in corporate social responsibility, or at least explain the absence thereof. This should encourage the companies to prepare for new regulations in advance. The “Social Reports” competition marks the progress in this respect, as this year it saw the highest number of submissions– 37, of which as many as 10 were the reports issued for the first time.
