GAZ–SYSTEM S.A. is an parent company of Polskie LNG SA, which was established for construction and operation of LNG terminal in Świnoujście.
Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is a sole-shareholder joint-stock company of the State Treasury. It is listed as strategic for Poland’s economy and energy security. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is responsible for security of Natural Gas supply via gas transmission network.
The key obligation of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is the transport of gaseous fuels via the national gas transmission network in order to deliver them to the distribution centres and to the end-users having access to transmission system.
By 2014 the company intends to build over 1000 km of new gas transmission pipelines. Strategic gas pipelines will be built in central and north-west Poland and in Lower Silesia.
GAZ–SYSTEM S.A. is also responsible for the execution of interconnections. Apart from development of connection in Lasów close to the German border, the company builds gas pipeline leading to the Czech Republic, which is going to be the second interconnection of Poland with the EU gas system.
GAZ–SYSTEM S.A. analyzes the possibility of building Poland-Lithuania and Poland- Slovakia connection gas pipelines. The company also conducts research on building Poland-Denmark gas pipeline.
Many strategic projects conducted by GAZ–SYSTEM S.A. obtained funding from the European Union. The company is a beneficiary of the following UE programs: EEPR (European Energy Programme for Recovery), TEN–E (Trans–European Networks – Energy), Innovative Economy Programme and Infrastructure and Environment Programme.
GAZ–SYSTEM S.A. is also an parent company of Polskie LNG SA, which was established for construction and operation of LNG terminal in Świnoujście. The involvement of GAZ–SYSTEM S.A. in the project of Świnoujście LNG terminal and the outer port construction was defined by the special Act on Liquefied Natural Gas Regasification Terminal in Świnoujście Project, issued on 24th April 2009 by Polish Parliament.
Moreover, GAZ–SYSTEM S.A is responsible for constructing and operation of Szczecin-Świnoujście gas connection pipeline
The project is co-financed from the European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR). The company also contributes financially to the construction of the LNG terminal.
